The article inconsistently uses ‘Pulhal’ and ‘Puzhal’. Government and recent media sources predominantly use ‘Puzhal Lake’. Suggest standardizing to ‘Puzhal’ and mentioning ‘Pulhal’ as an alternate spelling. ~2026-32479-5 (talk) 04:10, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pulhal Lake → Puzhal Lake – Per WP:COMMONNAME, the lake is mostly referred to as Puzhal Lake in contemporary sources. "Pulhal" is an older transliteration barely used, whereas "Puzhal" is the predominant spelling used by media and government publications. All sources over time refer to the name as Puzhal:

"CPI urges Tamil Nadu government to protect Puzhal lake". The Hindu. 14 July 2026.
"Has the battle for Puzhal lake begun?". The Hindu. 26 December 2020.
"Drinking water contamination: Sewage flows unchecked into Puzhal Lake". DT Next. 13 January 2026.
"Poondi, Puzhal reservoirs release surplus water ahead of northeast monsoon". The New Indian Express. 16 October 2025.
"Encroachments take the life out of 5000-acre Puzhal lake". The Times of India. 14 November 2022.
