ABoK 1072/1073/1848 are French Bowlines ... the running end does not pass twice through the nipping loop as shown in rest of article.

Illustrations seem wrong

The photographs in the article do not seem to show ABoK #1072/1848. The drawing shows it a little better, except it is tied in the Cowboy Bowline fashion, not as Ashley has shown. 2405:9800:B520:6843:884:BFC6:4092:D508 (talk) 10:33, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Which way is right? Pictures are different

The line drawing in the infobox shows the tail of the bowline arranged on the outside like a "cowboy" bowline. The photos show the tail arranged on the inside like a standard bowline. @Cobanyastigi: You reverted the edit describing alternative tying: . I looked into the way it was tied and it was like we used to tie bowline loop around our waist for climbing 50y ago, after synthetic ropes got available and before harnesses came into regular use. I still mostly use the same way for tying regular bowlines, especially when tying by touch (in dark or in awkward position).

As far as I saw the method shown worked for portuguese bowline, and might be easier then regular described here when tying by touch only.
