We don't want separate articles

It looks like @Orser67 moved "Wave election" to "Wave elections in the United States" in 2017, which I think was a bad move. A wave election is a wave election no matter where it happens, and given that it's a niche topic anyways, it makes sense to cover it globally in a single article. The fact that it only covered U.S. elections at the time was a reason to tag with {{Globalize}}, not to move (which also affected incoming links, not all of which may have been U.S.-related). Political tsunami should have been created as a section of the global article, not made its own article, because although it uses a slightly different word, it refers to the WP:SAMECONCEPT. But by 2023, when it was created, there was no global article.

@Arcahaeoindris, since you're working in this area, I'd suggest nominating some merges. Sdkb ^talk 23:05, 5 November 2025 (UTC)

Personally I prefer the current setup where in Wave elections in the United States and other such articles exist, and political wave helps to disambiguate them. The only concept that these articles seem to have in common is "big election victory that uses ocean-themed naming". There are very different election systems with very different dynamics around the world, and I think we should really get some evidence that this is a unified concept used across multiple countries by reliable sources (preferably academic ones) as opposed to just a linguistic coincidence referring to loosely-related ideas.
