Pronunciation of "Pix"?

- @Udo.boehm.demesquita The letter X is kind of "foreign" to Portuguese. Words ending in X are pronounced with /ks/ just like in English, so here Pix is said as [ˈpiks], close enough to peaks. It never has a "sh" sound /ʃ/ if it is the last letter, but it does have a variety of sounds otherwise, i.e. /ʃ/, /ks/, /z/, /s/. FYK: since people refer to Pix as the transaction itself (i.e. "send me a Pix") and the pronunciation is already in "plural form", no plural suffix is used (i.e. "I'll send you two Pix, from different accounts"), no one would say "Pixes", although some (few) people may write "Pixs" out of habit. Introduction
[edit]I believe is was introduced to move money among criminal organizations. There is no accountability, and people do not need to identify themselves so no income tax or sales tax on transactions. You can make a PiX number from a cellphone number, and a cellphone "chip" comes with the phone number and can be bought anonymously at news stands or supermarkets for around US$ 2,00.

- You are wrong, the PIX key refers to the data of an account (individual or legal entity) that must exist; fake accounts can be used, but the Central Bank is working to prevent the use of CPF or CNPJ data of non-existent people. 187.49.89.126 (talk) 17:17, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
