Should expensive sales be included in the article?
[edit]This edit removed sourced statements about record breaking sums achieved for photographs either bought or sold by MacGill. The argument given is that "Expense of items sold does not contribute to subject's notability". I disagree. Sale prices do not necessarily have a place in the encyclopedia. But these are record breaking sums. The Pond—Moonlight presumably only has an article because, at the time, it was the most expensive photograph ever sold. MacGill's involvement in the sale of this work, and the earlier Man Ray, surely does contribute to his notability as an art dealer.--Ethicoaestheticist (talk) 22:06, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- I agree...the page for The Pond—Moonlight mentions the sale. Pablo Picasso's page also has a section on auction results - these sales are relevant to the art world, and contributes to MacGill's notability as a gallerist. BillEggleston (talk) 00:05, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
