I disagree. Passport fraud involves the deceptive use of of a passport that might be real, such as applying for a real passport, or visa, using false information or using a stolen document. Forgery involves the creation of a realistic looking document that is false. While the intent of creating the forgery is to defraud, the fraud only happens when the forgery is used. While the two concepts are often related, they are seen as distinctly different in law and in practice. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 20:45, 10 June 2024 (UTC)

@Aszx5000: I think your proposal is not ambitious enough. While I am not opposed to the merger of both Fake passport and Passport fraud, I think the merger target should be the article about the Passport. The two articles actually discuss different things. The article about a fake passport discusses the production of a counterfeit document that purports to be a passport, but is not. The article even covers aspects of a Camouflage passport, such as the World Passport, which appear to be legitimate documents that are validly issued by an issuing agency, but are not recognized as ben valid as passports. On the other hand, passport fraud is a criminal offence in most jurisdictions, but may not involve using a "fake" passport, it could involve using a real passport of another person, or applying for a real passport under a different name, i.e. identity fraud. The pasport might be real but deception is involved in how the passport is being used. Merging these two articles conflates two different aspects of what I see as overlapping topics, neither of which are covered in the article about the Passport. It might be better to treat these two article as separate sub-articles of the main article about the Passport. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 19:03, 28 November 2025 (UTC)

That makes sense to me. I think always better to have a quality head article (like passport) with relevant subsections (and redirects to those subsections), which can be maintained vs. small variable quality sub-articles. Aszx5000 (talk) 19:06, 28 November 2025 (UTC)

I concur with the emerging consensus to merge to Passport - as that article grows it can then be logically split if necessary. Most of the passport fraud article, in fact, is padded out and can be significantly cut. I'll take a pass to cut both articles for clarity and neatness & then perhaps we can work on a merge?
