I have added some sourced info in an effort to expand this stub. I would like to raise the issue of Byzantine Empire cited in the lede. I cannot find any source that links it to the treaty. We will talk about the background of the Carolingians and the Venetians as well as the historical significance of the Pactum Lotharii, and the lasting effect it has. Is there any desire for those working on this article to give it a thorough proofreading? This article seems to have a rather strong bias and particular voice. It makes for a good read but seems incomplete, and contains many awkward turns of phrase, not to mention at least one typo. I am new to Wikipedia and made an account just for this, so please let me know if I am out of line or if this is not an appropriate use of the Talk section.
