June 18, 2015 clean up

[edit]

MOS:TABLES This list needs work and oversight. I've removed much miscellaneous biographical content from the Notes section that was not designed for Tables. If there is enough sourced content for a biography, then create the article. Some of what I removed, such as the Stephen F. Austin notes, were recaps of existing articles. — Maile (talk) 16:05, 18 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Merged from Zadock Woods

[edit]

I have completed a merge from Zadock Woods per the AfD. My merge could use some clean up though. Feel free to chip in. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 04:13, 9 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Delete list or move

[edit]

This List is deadly for the article. Why not make an article List and put all the names there? This lacks information about most of the families. The article would be improved by discussing more about the Old 300 accomplished in the early years, and other elements of their development that influenced Texas as a whole. Proposal: Let's change the table to text

[edit]

I'm happy to change the table to text, but wanted to solicit feedback first.

The table doesn't offer benefits like sorting because of the type of content in the table. Further, it is difficult for editors to use, so the content does not get as much attention as it really needs. And when content is changed, a problem with large tables makes it impossible to spot the update using the View History > Compare With Previous feature.

I'd like to change the table to an alphabetical list/text.

After that is done, I think we should add leagues/sitios granted to each family and where that is in current-day counties. I believe most of these families have entries in THSA, so hopefully getting it out of a table will encourage people to add details. In a text style, it will also be easier for other articles to link to specific names or families in this article.

I agree. I think text would better fit this information. A lot of the entries in the table do not have enough data available in available sources to fill in their row. OfTheUsername (talk) 23:54, 25 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
