"The Marines were trained and taught knife fighting and escaping techniques in Shanghai" Not unless Lieutenant Colonel William E. Fairbairn, was in the Japanese army! Although he had been in the Shanghai Municipal Police, by this time he was in Britain (probably Scotland or possibly Northern Ireland) training commandos and others such as US Rangers.
