Porphyris

Article mentions ancient name Porphyris.

porphyrous (http://www.purplestore.com/purpleis.shtml#purplefacts) - of or pertaining to the color purple. The word is somewhat archaic and has been removed from several dictionaries.

Is there any evidence that Nisyros was in the purple textile dye business back in the heyday of Murex-dyed textiles and Phoenicia?
