Add topicThe Walid Khalidi book (resource #3) is not considered a credible historical record
[edit]History: "It was established on land that had belonged to the depopulated Palestinian village of ____" - this text pattern was used by user 'Huldra' on many similar municipalities throughout Israel, via an attempt to set a false narrative of those locations all being "depopulated" from Palestinians. See wiki term with similar language and edits by the same user: Hatzav .
1. These edits are based on the same book by Walid Khalidi, that aims to rewrite the history of the state of Israel via non-credible historical record.
2. But the most amazing thing is that the page referenced by user 'Huldra' to Khalidi's book, page 135, actually claims the opposite from what the user wrote. Quote from the book: "There are no Israeli settlements on the lands of al-Sawafir al-Shamaliyya. The determination of locations for several settlements in the area is complicated by the numerous changes in their names since they were founded. (See al-Sawafir al-Sharqiyya and al-Sawafir al-Gharbiyya for definite names and locations.) [P-56, 206, 239, 261; M:xix]"
3. User 'Huldra' has edited many such Israeli municipality wiki pages, referencing the same book. Only the terms in English are edited, where their 'history' is now different than the matching terms in the Hebrew version of wikipedia. Raneng (talk) 03:07, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- Per WP:ARBECR, you are restricted to edit requests and I am entitled to delete your editorial. However, since you made claims about an editor which are false, I'll respond here. First, Khalidi's book is a scholarly reliable source even though some don't like to read what it says. Second, you are quoting from page 134 about a different village, not from page 135 as you claim. Page 135 supports the text. Maps show that the present site of Nir Banim spans the boundary of the lands of al-Sawafir al-Sharqiyya and al-Sawafir al-Gharbiyya (Survey of Palestine, 1:20,000 series sheet 12-12, 1942).
