Heavily duplicated subject. But possibly some new content. Not to say that the article NEPman is heavily confused: this is a colloquial insulting term for people who got rich due to NEP. Surely it was not applied to petty street vendors. And this can be easily covered in a single paragraph in the main article. - Altenmann >talk 16:21, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

Formal end

I blindly copied this piece of info and then self-reverted:

The formal end of NEP may be dated by 11 October 1931, when a decree was issued about the ban of the private trade.

After that I found this text by Mikhail Eliseykin which casts serious doubts on this statement:

• The statement is all over the intenets, but nobody cites the actual document
• Eliseykin cites later decrees from which it is seen that private traders did exist, but severely restricted.
• Eliseykin cites "Persona non grata: частник в советской торговле на рубеже 1920–1930-х гг." by Твердюкова Елена Дмитриевна, which in his opinion, correctly describes the end of the private trade. --Altenmann >talk 16:55, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

I don't think that there was an official declaration of the "end of NEP". For starters, NEP was a triad of private property (of the means of production), private enterprise, and private trade. Neither was completely banned in all areas of the economy. --Altenmann >talk 17:02, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

Therefore if anyone want to add something about a definite end of NEP I suggest:

• to phrase it as an expert's opinion
• If someone mentions some document, it must be directly cited. All major Soviet documents are in the internets (and minor ones clearly cannot be as a watershed mark). --Altenmann >talk 17:06, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
