Natchez → Natchez (disambiguation)Natchez (disambiguation) Natchez → primary redirect to Natchez, Mississippi – While not by an overwhelming margin, the city in Mississippi appears to be the primary topic, and is most likely what most people would think of when they here the name "Natchez"; they are unlikely to think of the Natchez Trace or the Natchez Trace Parkway. Per pageview analysis , the city in Mississippi routinely gets 3-4 times more daily views than Natchez people, the city's namesake, and people outside of the area are unlikely to know the origin of the name. (although for some strange reason unknown to me, "Natchez people" received more than 40x more views than average in the day before this request was initiated.) It is also important to take into the consideration the significance of the MS city because of its historical prominence, being more than 300 years old and one of the oldest cities in the United States. Oppose I do think of the Natchez Trace before the city, and I don't find the pageview argument convincing in this case. 10-1 would be, but 4-1, I'm not so sure. --SarekOfVulcan (talk)19:50, 22 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oppose per AjaxSmack. While, on average, people are more likely to be looking for the city than one of the other possibilities, the difference is not so stark as to distinguish the city as the clear primary topic.--Aervanath (talk) 14:58, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Comment Clarification: I don't think anyone ever refers to or thinks of the Natchez Trace or Parkway as simply "Natchez" or "The Natchez." Similar to the way that no one probably refers to the Blue Ridge Parkway as just "Blue Ridge." "The Natchez" is more likely to refer to the people. Bneu2013 (talk) 02:45, 28 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oppose per AjaxSmack. Pageviews shows that the city is at best only a plurality of the major uses of the topic, which isn't enough for it to be a primary topic. In terms of long-term significance, I would argue that the Natchez people that the city is named after, which had a significant and active role in American colonial history (see Natchez revolt) would win that criterion over the city. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions17:13, 29 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
