"Victorian era"

If we're talking about the Victorian era as a period, I don't think that should apply globally and should only refer to British colonial holdings and to England. Victoria's reign meaningfully impacted a very large amount of the world but I do consider its social norms not global enough to say this. I would instead qualify the sentence as to where and when the norm apllies. If it's only England and its holdings, and nowhere else, then Victorian, and if not then I would consider a range of decades more objective. I especially say this because of the perception of the 1920s as a decade being so focused on the American 1920s, and the United States never experienced the Victorian era.
