Update to NF's Personal Life Section - Birth of Second Child

[edit]

Section of the Page to Update: - Personal Life -> Family and relationships - Sidebar

Suggested Text to Add:

In December 2023, NF and Bridgette welcomed their second child, born on 12/19. This marks a significant addition to the family, following the birth of their first child in 2021.

Rationale for Change: This update is to ensure the Wikipedia page reflects the latest developments in NF's personal life, maintaining the accuracy and up-to-dateness of the information presented. The birth of his second child is a notable event that is relevant to his biography. Joppedc (talk) 15:09, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. This is original research and thus doesn't meet the criteria of No Original Research. A more appropriate source would be if the birth had been reported on in a news outlet. Thickynugnug (talk) 08:54, 26 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I want to change the children count to two, because NF just had a daughter recently. Gluttonous-weasel (talk) 00:09, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

My own brief search only found this Music Mayhem article that's a secondary source about the birth, but there hasn't been much prior discussion about its reliability, and I'm not familiar enough with this area to evaluate it. There's also the tweet that was mentioned in the above section, but it seems that someone else has objected to its use. (Also, @Gluttonous-weasel, please provide a source when making edit requests; completely unsourced requests like these are often rejected on sight). Liu1126 (talk) 01:00, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
A social media post in reference to this from NF or his family members should meet the requirements of WP:ABOUTSELF to count as a reliable primary source. With that, the information can be added.

Not done for now: This should've been closed before. Closing it now instead. The edit request can be reopened and fulfilled when a reliable source is provided.

Christian Rapper

[edit]

Why is he labeled a christian rapper in his main bio, and yet, later in this article, he himself has stated that he is not? I move to remove that label in the main bio. ~2026-25905-90 (talk) 23:47, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I will reiterate what I said here: This is not the first time topics like these have been discussed, see this on P.O.D., this and this on Lecrae, or this on Red. These are only a select few instances, and there's certainly many more. I don't think we need to go through all the trouble of adding to that list by discussing NF's religious affilition when there's already plenty of times this very topic has been discussed.
Summatively, there are many musicians who are considered "Christian musicians" but prefer not to be known that way publicly, and often times that's simply for marketing purposes – slapping the word "Christian" on anything music-wise has historically given it an automatic bad connotation from secular audiences. To avoid this, they resort to making public statements and such saying stuff like, "I'm not a Christian musician, just a musician who happens to be Christian", while at the same time they're still creating music with religious-themed lyrics and marketing it to Christian audiences. In NF's case specifically, he signed to a Christian label early on his career (which would be an odd thing for a non-Christian to do), and to this day is still eligible for Christian music charts. I hope this explains why the description is the way that it is. JavaJourney (talk | contribs) 02:02, 10 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
