I am professionally connected to Mimi Plange and am proposing the following changes for review rather than making a major direct rewrite myself. The goal is to improve sourcing, remove vague wording, and update the article with museum and collaboration information supported by published sources.

Proposed replacement text: Mimi Plange is a Ghanaian-American fashion designer. Trained in architecture, she is known for work that applies principles of structure, surface, and construction to fashion. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the SCAD Museum of Art, and has been featured by The Museum at FIT. Early life and education Plange was born in Accra, Ghana, and moved with her family to California when she was young. She grew up in Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga. She studied architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, and later attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. Career After moving to New York, Plange worked for Patricia Field and Rachel Roy before launching her own label. Her early line, Boudoir D'Huîtres, was later developed under her own name, Mimi Plange. Plange’s work combines architectural construction with references drawn from African visual culture and forms of bodily marking. Her collections have explored scarification, identity, and self-representation through tailored sportswear and formal dress. Her designs have been worn by figures including Michelle Obama, Rihanna, and Serena Williams. In 2011, Manolo Blahnik collaborated with Plange on custom shoes for her New York Fashion Week presentation. Her Fall/Winter 2011 collection Scarred Perfection was later exhibited by SCAD, and a dress from the collection entered the SCAD Museum of Art Permanent Collection as a gift of the designer. At The Museum at FIT, Plange’s spring 2013 dress was included in Black Fashion Designers, an exhibition drawn from the museum’s permanent collection, and was later also featured in Pink: The History of a Punk, Pretty, Powerful Color. She later collaborated with Nike Basketball and LeBron James on multiple sneaker projects, including the LeBron 18 Low and the LeBron 20 “Ceremony.” Plange has also collaborated with Roche Bobois and The Shade Store.
