Methyprylon discontinuation in the U.S.

I was actually researching the correct spelling of methyprylon for a new book that I'm working on, and was somewhat disappointed to find that the following statement in the beginning of the article is NOT true with respect to the year of discontinuation of methyprylon sales in the U.S. "Methyprylon was withdrawn from the US market in June 1975 and the Canadian market in September 1990." I must state right away that I have no immediate sources for this information save for a prescription for 300mg. Noludar capsules that I filled in February of 1990, in a Walgreens in the city of Chicago. This prescription was made out to myself personally, and I had it filled, so this is not even hearsay. I have no idea where the author of the quoted statement sourced their information, but as far as the U.S. is concerned, methyprylon was still available and being prescribed as of February 1990. 2003:CF:B711:7DE9:B147:531E:8CB1:24BA (talk) 09:59, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

I am not certain if you are active nearly 4 years later, but may I ask for an update on your book? I am purusing some highly-specific, obscure, specialized sources and have seen 1990 mentioned as a date of discontinuation for the U.S. AND Canada, but there are also sources claiming 1965, not even 1975, as the date it was withdrawn. I'm look for data to suggest that it may have cratered in demand because it seen as a mere "sleeping agent" (similar to ethinamate) whereas it existed in a time where the "in thing" was to cover all bases, i.e. the "nerve pill" take a low-dose in AM and a booster dose (or even a separate booster med) later in the day and then a soporific dose at night.
