[edit]

Hi, I work for Merlin Entertainments globally, you can reach out to my LinkedIn if you need verification. I thought I'd offer some clarifiers for both this article and also the navigation template. I can certainly make some of these updates myself but just wanted to put a message on the talk page first since I haven't gone looking for public sources for everything that I already happen to know! But all of the following is is public information which can be used to correct or add to some of the existing content:

  • The sale has gone through for Otway Fly and Illawarra Fly in Q3 2025. I'm not sure if the new owners have made a public statement yet, but when the article says that we sold the attractions in 2024, it would be more accurate to say that the attractions went on sale in 2024 but were sold in the second half of 2025. Both attractions stayed open in the interim. They may need to be moved or italicised on the template.
  • Both SEA LIFE Berlin and SEA LIFE Königswinter have closed. I'm not too sure when Königswinter closed down, but Berlin was in the wake of the central fish tank smashing which was fairly public news.
  • There is a listing for a SEA LIFE site in The Hague, but just like the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, this is a Scheveningen attraction which is also reflected in its branding. It looks to be missing from the nav template entirely.
  • Both Madame Tussauds Prague and Budapest are franchised attractions. You'll notice they have a differently designed website and a separate web domain from the usual madametussauds.com/attraction domain, though they are linked to on the madametussauds.com holding site.
    • This is also the case for all Gateways in China (this does not include Madame Tussauds Hong Kong which is wholly owned).
  • As already added to the main article but not on the template, Blackpool Tower has returned to the local council alongside the Dungeons and Eye attractions. SEA LIFE Blackpool remains with Merlin. I am not sure on the status of Peter Rabbit Blackpool but do note that it did not necessarily move to Blackpool Tourism Ltd, I will seek some confirmation.
  • I don't have an exact date, but Little Big City closed in both Germany and Beijing much sooner than 2024, I joined the company in 2021 and never once worked on them.

I hope this helps, please let me know if there is anything else I can clarify, and whether a more experienced Wikipedia editor would like to try and implement some of this information with sources or if I should add some of it in myself! ToastUltimatum (talk) 15:42, 18 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • I've just updated those closures for which there are online sources and the Scheveningen branding.
  • Ive now added those franchised sites you mention.
  • Little Big City Berlin appeared to close end of 2024 according to an online source (added). Note that Sea Life Berlin did not own the nearby aquarium that exploded so closure unrelated.
  • If there is an online source clarifying on the sale of the Fly attractions sales it can be updated.
  • Feel free to update the template, I personally dont have the time!
