While this is marked 'mid-importance' in systems theory, and Wheatley is certainly high-achieving in her field, I'd argue she isn't sufficiently notable. She has many accolades, but so do a lot of management consultants and business speakers. The article, prior to my recent edits, was a promotional puff piece with large chunks of text taken wholesale from Wheatley's personal website, and long quotes in praise of Wheatley from industry journalists. She's certainly a very admirable woman, but beyond being appointed as a National Parks Advisor by the Obama government, I can't see what she's done to merit an article over and above various other widely-acclaimed management consultants. For instance, there are a great many lawyers out there in the world who make legal top 100 rankings, receive awards, and publish regularly, but clearly don't merit inclusion on Wikipedia. I'm not knowledgeable about systems theory, so if she's a genuinely pioneering figure in this field, then fair enough, but it would be good if someone with expertise in this area could add a bit more to the article on that. The Notability policy requires that subjects receive "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject", so we tend not to factor in subjective assessments about what a person has done to merit an article. As for the determination that this article has been rated as mid-importance for WikiProject Systems, that is much more subjective, and you can find more information about that at their assessment page. For what it's worth, I can attest from my own personal experience that her work Leadership and the New Science has had a significant impact outside of systems theory. -- irn (talk) 17:43, 7 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
