Request to update private-practice career

[edit]

Conflict-of-interest disclosure: I am an employee of Lowenstein Sandler LLP, where Matthew Boxer is a partner. I am proposing these changes for review by an independent editor rather than editing the article directly.

The current article's career history effectively ends with Boxer's return to Lowenstein Sandler in 2014. I would like to propose a limited update covering subsequent publicly reported professional activity. I have attempted to keep the language neutral and to rely primarily on independent news sources rather than firm promotional materials.

Proposed addition:

Private practice

[edit]

After completing his term as State Comptroller, Boxer returned to Lowenstein Sandler in 2014 as a partner and chair of the firm's Corporate Investigations & Integrity practice. He currently serves as managing partner of the firm's Roseland office. In January 2024, he became chair of the firm's White Collar Defense practice while continuing to lead its Corporate Investigations & Integrity practice.[1][2]

In January 2021, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy selected Boxer to lead an independent investigation into allegations concerning use-of-force incidents at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women. The investigation resulted in a public report examining the incidents and recommending changes to policies and practices at the facility. The report was released in June 2021 in connection with Murphy's decision to close the prison.[3]

Boxer has also led independent investigations for Rutgers University involving allegations concerning its athletic programs. Rutgers retained Boxer to lead an outside investigation of allegations involving its softball program in 2019. The resulting investigation recommended changes to university procedures for addressing student-athlete complaints.[4] In 2024, Rutgers again retained Boxer to lead an external investigation, this time concerning allegations involving its women's gymnastics program.[5]

I would appreciate an independent editor's review of the proposed addition and welcome revisions to the wording or sourcing.
