Complaint
[edit]Symbols appearing in the equations need to be defined. Otherwise, this material is not comprehensible.
I'd like to see this page expanded to include some discussion and statistics re. how market concentration has changed in the U.S. over time in such areas as manufacturing, retail clothing, and communications services.
Needs example industries, with graphs and charts
[edit]Pie charts of market concentration of a certain industry at a certain time, line graphs for those values over time Mapmaker345 (talk) 01:03, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
Would like to see other countries included in the discussion
[edit]At present (2025) large portions of this article seems to have been written as if market concentration and concerns about it were exclusively a U.S. phenomenon. I hope that in the future, more about other countries with their very different economic histories can be included. To me it's especially interesting that many national governments have openly tried to manage competition and market concentration in whatever they've taken to be their national interests. In some countries, political parties seem to be involved in this. And in still others, perhaps including the U.S., have done so "behind the scenes" while pretending to maintain open markets. -- At any rate I think this article could be developed quite a bit further, and I'd like to encourage that.
