Jirai kei shopfront image...?

There's a little image of "a store selling Jirai-kei-style clothing in Sichuan, China" in this article, but jirai-kei isn't actually mentioned anywhere in the body of the article! It seems like either the article or the caption should explain why it's there...? (ex. "jirai-kei is a subculture influenced by kawaii" or whatever the case may be) Mettastasized (talk) 20:29, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Objection to presumptive removal of article expansion (WP:LLMPRVOBJ)

I am objecting under WP:LLMPRVOBJ to the presumptive removal at Special:Diff/1360969783/1361028946, which reverted the expansion made at Special:Diff/1351463924/1352813586. I understand that objecting under WP:LLMPRVOBJ requires the material and its sources to be closely reviewed and reworked as needed before restoration. I am therefore not asking for blind restoration of the reverted version; I am asking editors to review the removed material on its merits and restore any portions that satisfy verifiability, reliable sourcing, due weight, neutrality, no original research, encyclopedic tone and copyright policy.

The removed material addressed a structural gap in the article's history section by expanding the development of kawaii beyond the existing emphasis on 1970s cute handwriting and merchandise. In particular, it attempted to summarize: (1) pre-war shōjo culture and Katsuji Matsumoto's late-1920s and 1930s role in cute visual style and character merchandise; (2) the post-war role of Rune Naito in establishing the modern visual vocabulary of kawaii; (3) 1960s uses of kawaii in television titles and magical-girl media; (4) the 1970s commercial and "fancy goods" context, including Sanrio and Ribon supplements; and (5) the cross-gender consumption of shōjo manga and cute character designs discussed by Eiji Ōtsuka. These points were supported by cited sources including Nobuko Anan's monograph, Kami Shōichirō's history of children's publishing art, the Tokyo Shimbun article on Matsumoto, the Asahi Shimbun article on Naito and works by Ōtsuka.

I accept that some removed wording may need substantial revision before restoration. For example, the broader interpretive claims in the aesthetics and global reception portions should be checked carefully for due weight and direct source support, and I would be content with those portions being omitted or rewritten separately if other editors consider them too interpretive. My main objection is to the wholesale loss of the more concrete, source-tethered historical material, especially the pre-war shōjo, Matsumoto, Naito, Sanrio/Ribon, and Ōtsuka material, which appears relevant to the article's scope and could improve the article if reviewed and copyedited.

Could an uninvolved editor review the removed material and consider restoring a narrower version, or alternatively identify which specific claims fail verifiability, reliable sourcing, due weight, no original research, neutrality, tone or copyright policy so that I can propose a trimmed replacement? Sonic Mania Adventures?

Why Sonic Mania Adventures isn't on this page or on the section animations based on video games? not a known example one, I mean the animation style kinda looks like a kawaii one! and shonen- anime inspired animation, wouldn't it be nice to put in there by myself? pls! フィリピン人 (talk) 07:12, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
