Merger Proposal: Mahakali
The article Mahakali is about the supreme form of goddess Kali. According to me, Mahakali should be merged into Kali article and a section Mahakali should be created in order to explain about her. .👨🏻🎨 💠245CMR💠.•👥📜 16:16, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- 245CMR, If you haven't, consider "advertising" this discussion in a few places like WT:HINDU, WT:WikiProject Religion, WT:IN and WT:WOMEN. It can help. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:39, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your advice. .👨🏻🎨 💠245CMR💠.•👥📜 10:43, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
But I don't know how to do that as I have no experience. Please guide me. .👨🏻🎨 💠245CMR💠.•👥📜 10:45, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- 245CMR, On those pages, just add a new section with a message like "There is a discussion about merging Kali and Mahakali at Talk:Kali#Merger_Proposal:_Mahakali. Your input is welcome." Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:51, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose A distinct goddess depicted with ten heads, legs, hands each; Sometimes 1 head. Though described as a Supreme form of Kali, Mahakali originates in the Devi Mahatmya; she is the principle deity of the first episode, where she aids Vishnu to slay Madhu-Kaitabha. In this text, Kali identified with Chamunda (but distinct from Mahakali) appears with Mahadevi and the Matrikas in the third episode where she drinks Raktabija.--Redtigerxyz Talk 11:52, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
- User:245CMR, 13 years ago I had proposed the merger believing them to be the same goddess, however have changed my opinion.Redtigerxyz Talk 14:53, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
Sir, thank you very much for your guidance. I wanted to know who is the part of the Mahavidya — Mahakali or Kali. Sorry that I replied late. .👨🏻🎨 💠245CMR💠.•👥📜 06:00, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

the word tantric gives a negative notion for the goddess
The word tantric gives a negative notion for the goddess. Needs to be removed wherever possible.Nenetarun (talk) 17:16, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello, The article can have more external links.Nenetarun (talk) 17:19, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- Examples? Afaik, She doesn't have an official website ;-) Guidance at WP:EL, note also the Further reading section. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 17:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- You should not be speaking about a goddess like this. Be respectful. Nenetarun (talk) 04:47, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
Kaili
In the Beatles movie Help the main theme was sacrificing one to Kaili! 2600:1702:33E0:2710:5082:686B:657E:28D6 (talk) 03:00, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Comparative scholarship
Hello, @Antiquistik: thank you for expanding this page. It would be more appropriate to move theory about Possible Near Eastern influences to it's own section under "Comparative scholarship" as it is done for Sekhmet and Anat pages. Marvin H. Pope's theory is not widely received since not much has not been much published about this theory since 1970s, therefore Comparative scholarship would be more appropriate here instead of origins.117.198.116.86 (talk) 03:41, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- Additionally, more recent scholarship on Kali on like - "Tantric Kali Secret Practices and Rituals By Daniel Odier" (2016), "Offering Flowers, Feeding Skulls By June McDaniel" (2004), "Encountering Kali In the Margins, at the Center, in the West By Jeffrey J. Kripal, Rachel Fell McDermott" (2003)- Do not make any such claims either or mention it. 117.198.116.86 (talk) 02:49, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- Plus, it can be considered undue weight in Origins since it's not mainstream theory or widely accepted in recent scholarship and comes from single author from 1960s.117.198.116.86 (talk) 10:56, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- I have moved it under Comparative scholarship section which is more appropriate for this topic and it is similar to what is present in Sekhmet and Anat pages.117.198.116.86 (talk) 02:57, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- @117.198.116.86: Yes, I have no problem with that. Antiquistik (talk) 12:10, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Kali ma photo update

I am an ardent Kali bhakt and would like to update the pic.
I also monitor this page closely to see if no one write anything bad about Maa. Kalimaa1857 (talk) 14:34, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
- Per WP:LEADIMAGE, what image do you suggest? Per WP:Image use policy we can only use public domain/properly licensed images, so random pics found online are often useless in the WP-context. Commons has several that can be used, for example: Category:Paintings of Kali. WP:RNPOV and WP:CODI may be of help to you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:54, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
- This previous discussion Talk:Kali/Archive_1#Kali_infobox_image settled on the 1770 image, but people have changed it since then. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:57, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
