"Silly Games"

[edit]

The original version of this article in 2004 claimed that Myers wrote "Silly Games" for Janet Kay; in 2015 this was amended to say that Myatt "claims authorship" of the song. In fact sources going back to 1999 state as a fact that he worked on the song: New York Times Magazine (1999), The Mirror (2000), The Guardian (2006), BBC News (2012). While it's entirely plausible that the claim of Myatt's authorship originates with Myatt himself, none of these sources actually support that, and the implication of this version of the article that Myatt did not in fact work on the song is supported only by the lack of mention on a discogs.com entry (meanwhile various other discogs entries do credit Myatt as one of the writers). Indeed, Myatt was credited as a writer along with Bovell on Linda Layton's 1990 cover and Bobby Kray's 2007 cover.

All in all, it seems to me likely that Myatt was genuinely involved in the writing of Silly Games; the implication in the previous version of this article that he was falsely claiming authorship seems entirely unsupported. Caeciliusinhorto (talk) 18:55, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
