Final notice for long-uncited materials (17 years, actually)

Wikipedia policy states that any editor may at any time remove uncited materials from an article.

The correct approach to building an article is 1) find sources 2) cite them and 3) add text from them.

This article has contained uncited materials for a prolonged period, and they were properly removed; I'm not happy about being reverted with no new sources added, it's improper. I'm giving this lot of OR one week for sources to be provided, or it is finally getting deleted, no ifs, no buts. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:37, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

WP:OR also states:

Articles that currently name zero references of any type may be fully compliant with this policy — so long as there is a reasonable expectation that editors could find a published, reliable source to support every bit of material... The prohibition against original research means that it must be possible for editors to find a reliable, published source that directly supports any given bit of material.

Furthermore, WP:BRD encourages users whose bold edits are reverted to discuss the matter with other editors. The future version of this article will result in some material being deleted, mostly because it's digressive, but care must be taken to not go overboard either and to retain material for which citations can be provided. Your understanding here is appreciated. At any rate, it may take me a few days longer than a week to bring this article up to speed. Understood; obviously this is not a content dispute but about policy. We may also note that it's specially undesirable for a 'Vital' article to remain uncited for any length of time: the materials have been there since 18 April 2009 (!), so their removal or citation is ... long overdue, so let's wait no longer than the not-to-celebrate anniversary 18 April 2026.
