Did You Know A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on June 6, 2020.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the ancient Indian religion Jainism (primary symbol pictured) holds that the universe was not created?
Current status: Good article

[edit]

Clarifying that the ancient symbol of Jainism is not about Nazism, racism, etc. People might enter this page, see the symbol and have all the outrage towards Nazism misdirected towards Jainism.

In my opinion: this ancient symbol of faith was outrageously and with desecration misused by the Nazis, desecration of a sacred ancient symbol. The image with the symbol draws to much attention to the Swastika, instead of Jainism to be the main focus of this page.

i propose adding a brief clarifying note near the swastika symbol explaining its pre-Nazi origins and its very, very distinct meaning within Jainism. As of my research there is nothing racist, anti-Semite, etc. at all regarding Jainism. MateiTeca (talk) 09:53, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Meditation

[edit]

"Jainism considers meditation (dhyana) a necessary practice, but it never has been a central practice." I request @Capankajsmilyo to update this misleading line from teachings section. ~2026-23345-82 (talk) 02:01, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Capankajsmilyoare you sleeping? Fix the etymology section it is incorrect ~2026-31261-32 (talk) 18:20, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Jainpedia

[edit]

Suggest adding https://jainpedia.org/ under external links. Shahinshah121 (talk) 20:44, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Probably not a good idea. Jainpedia is a user built site and the information it contains may not be reliable. RegentsPark (comment) 00:57, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's an academic project, edited by Nalini Balbir, a leading scholar of Jainism. Shahinshah121 (talk) 13:02, 21 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Spelling

[edit]

The word "teachings" in the first main paragraph is spelled incorrectly (see image here). Meowingcats01 (talk) 02:45, 4 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
