Intro paragraph text
[edit]The inclusion of calorie count in the introduction struck me as odd. I haven't seen another article on a mass produced food that includes it, so it doesn't seem to fit the standard format of information. Additionally, it may be harmful to those recovering from eating disorders, and might be better placed under a "nutrition information" section, if that were even deemed necessary/fitting. - to say nothing of the fact that this is a name of a food item, not a brand, and to state a specific calorie count when there are 10s of thousands of different jaffa cakes, and hundreds of the same size and relatively similar ingredients that are not exactly 46 calories. this should be unlocked for some editing, or someone with ability to edit should just remove this. 2603:7080:AD44:4C00:9198:3CE1:5678:BEF9 (talk) 16:00, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- The calorie count listed is no longer accurate either; more reason to just remove the calories all together. KittyPinkForReal (talk) 18:21, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

either change the quoted "in a few mouthfuls" to "in one, possibly two, mouthfuls" or remove the quotations around "'In a few mouthfulls'" as it is not a direct quote. (http://www.timcrane.com/jaffa-cakes.html)
change "Mr Potter QC also expressed that nor were Jaffa Cakes biscuits." to "Mr Potter QC also determined that Jaffa Cakes were not Biscuits" as it is more grammatically correct GnomeSycke (talk) 08:11, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Done - I've moved the part about not being biscuits to the previous sentence rather than correct the sentence, to avoid redundancy. Tollens (talk) 19:04, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Sizing and calorie information is no longer up-to-date
[edit]As of the date of this comment, as a result of shrinkflation, widely reported in UK press: https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/jaffa-cake-fans-furious-mcvities-30948536 (and others). Calorie count per biscuit is now 41 calories, according to information printed on a current box. Box sizes are 10/20 (not sure if this is already correct on the main article). 5.67.15.13 (talk) 15:35, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
Is this article about the McVities brand or Jaffa cakes in general?
[edit]I was thinking about making some edits to improve this article, but I'm not sure if this is supposed to be an article on the McVities Jaffa Cakes brand in particular, or about the type of cake in general, which is produced by a variety of brands (McVities, Burtons Biscuits, Delicje, supermarket own brands, etc.). The title (Jaffa Cakes instead of Jaffa cake) suggests it is about the brand, but the article structure and some wordings suggest it is about the type of cake. I don't think it makes much difference to what is included, but it will make a difference to how the article should be structured and how information should be conveyed. If consensus is yet to be determined, I would vote that the article should be about Jaffa cakes as a type of cake, since it is the more general subject. Shapeyness (talk) 19:44, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
