810 or 6th Century?

[edit]

I just happened across this article as I was looking at a news item. I'm not entirely sure that this village is the same as mentioned in the following, but Universität Innsbruck says that they have made "... a spectacular discovery in an early Christian church on the Burgbichl in the municipality of Irschen in southern Austria..." They also say it the pyx (the "spectacular discovery") is "1,500-year-old" which would be in the early part of the 6th century, at about 525. That is considerably older than 810.

If anyone knows whether or not this is indeed the right village for this ancient church, please update it with the relevant information. I am not familiar with the area so I cannot attest to it being the right one. Another source is a Popular Mechanics brief which refers to the Universität Innsbruck article. I have archived both articles today, at Archive.org, just in case. Please let me know how it turns out!
