Ethnic identity

The ethnic identity of the Ingrian Finns is discussed in this Master's thesis: https://trepo.tuni.fi/handle/10024/147811 Although not a reliable source by itself, it can provide some references and ideas on how their ethnic identity should be presented. Currently their "Finnishness" is emphasized here quite a lot, but the thesis indicates some ambivalence about such an identification. They separated from the rest of the Finns before the national awakening, so a Finnish identity can also be considered something foreign. 130.234.120.6 (talk) 12:59, 20 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Where are Ingrian Finns described as indigenous? Izhorians and Votians are for sure, but as the article states, Ingrian Finns were descended from 17th century migrants. -- Kapulakone (talk) 07:52, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
