Tamgaly vs Tamgaly Tas

[edit]

Untitled

[edit]

Tamgaly Tas is a site on the Ili with Tibetan Buddhist carvings, not to be confused with the Tamgaly world heritage site. Both are covered separately on Russian Wikipedia, and I can confirm that they are in completely different directions from Almaty, where I live, as I have been to both! For this reason I intend to remove the link from this page, and hope to create a page for Tamgaly Tas in English in August. Harlandski (talk) 14:58, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Shimmering"

[edit]

is probably wrong since ilansu doesn't seem to be a Mongolian word but (a) it might be an older form of a modern Mongolian term and (b) even if it turns out to be entirely mistaken it's worth noting and debunking that since several regional sources appear to share the idea.  LlywelynII 13:50, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
