240 volt generator engines

[edit]

Magnetos continue to be used in small engines. Some acknowledgement of that would be useful. Actually, I'm trying to come to grips with a home generator I have, that has no spark. The thing I find confusing is that the 'coil' on my generator is mounted away from the flywheel. Do some magneto designs have step up transformers? Up until this point I thought the HT was created entirely within the magneto that was mounted near the flywheel. Perhaps there are other designs this article needs to include.

On another note, in relation to the Bosch training diagram with no reference to a magnet and the fact that the diagram appears remarkably similar to a non-magneto ignition circuit I wonder if the correct diagram has been included. 49.181.86.133 (talk) 01:08, 15 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Article issues

[edit]

The middle paragraph discussing different "points" opening does not make sense and the source link is dead. Came to learn about magnetos and am more confused because of this. No where else in the article are points mentioned ~2026-10599-41 (talk) 00:13, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
