SIMM memory

It looks like it used 72-pin SIMM modules (3 or 4 slots on a motherboard), but it was before they were standardized by JEDAC, and in fact they are not compatible with most if not all later 72-pin SIMM modules. ECC modules were supported and available, but unclear if all PS/2 models supported that, or if the ones that not-supported it, just ignored the other stuff and continued working. The 4 presence detect (PD) pins, were to encode size and speed, plus additional ECC parity pin for ECC detection. But some of the PD stuff was in fact non-standard with later standards apparently. ~2026-25464-77 (talk) 15:53, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
