ITN concern

Where there's such contention, it's good if the closer explains their decision so that we understand it. In this case, I notice that the closer, PFHLai, also edited the article themself. This makes them somewhat involved but the good aspect of this is that it shows that they engaged with the detail and fixed up whatever loose ends they perceived. That seems better than just being a drive-by rubber stamp.

My beef is that PFHLai gave the main author, Abcmaxx an ITN credit, but I didn't get one for updating the article. We should be generous with such credits to encourage editors to be constructive. I'll take care of that now and give one to PFHLai for their update too. The ITN admins don't see much formal reward for their efforts and so we should remember them too.

It still hasn't been evidenced or made clear what supposed quality concern was. It has been written and re-written in a narrative style detailing the reliably sourced life's work, as is the expectation for biographical articles. Lack of trivia or sources being in another language are not valid quality concerns. Abcmaxx (talk) 10:28, 14 November 2025 (UTC)

Sorry, Andrew, but last night, I had trouble finding your contributions to the wikibio in the edit history after the subject's death. I usually focus on the prose, particularly updating about the death. Now I see that one edit (adding an image). I have done so because my view is that adding an image is usually the best improvement one can make to such a new article – "a picture is worth a thousand words", you see. Adding such a picture seems to be beyond most editors because the effort and know-how is non-trivial. You have to find a picture, evaluate its status, download it, crop it, upload it to the right place and then get the licensing and FUR right. Hi, Cory. How are you? Sorry. It looks like I have goofed up here. I scrolled up and down on ITNC and have probably counted Andrew's support vote twice [my excuse: I was using a small monitor last night.], over the one oppose vote from you. The nom was approaching expiry and the wikiarticle looked passable at the time. So, I gave it a few clean-up edits (routine work for me) and promoted it to the RD line. • As a further datapoint, I just ran WP:DYKCHECK which reports Prose size (text only): 2820 characters (485 words) "readable prose size" which is good enough for a pass at DYK, IMO. WP:ITNQUALITY expects

  Articles are held to a minimum standard of quality. Articles should be a minimally comprehensive overview of the subject, not omitting any major items. Stub articles are never appropriate for the main page. Articles should be well written with clear prose. Articles which consist solely or mostly of lists and tables, with little narrative prose, are usually not acceptable for the main page, and prose should be in narrative style, not proseline-type writing.

  I'm still not convinced that the average reader will consider the article to be especially bad; just rather pedestrian, maybe. Andrew🐉(talk)

• No problems now, Abcmaxx fixed what I tagged (two books without book format), I was not referring to "prose" Abcmaxx... Nor to non-English sources. Nope. I was referring to something that should've been fixed before ITN posting, which were two book sources which were dry and unreferenced. No problem at all, PFHLai, this is passable now.
