Marginal Article

[edit]

The purpose of this article in a general purpose encyclopedia escapes me. Seems to be someones 'hobby horse'. Seki1949 (talk) 22:04, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

“Hitler was right” is a saying used to express people’s opinions. It doesn’t mean they’re nazis, and hitler never once supported a specific racial group. Jews, or jewish peoples believes is what caused hitler to feel the way he did, as well as taking the action he did. This previous editor is calling it a “meme” ignoring the genocide happening in occupied Palestine. Discrediting and ignoring the facts about hitlers beliefs and actions. Simply google hitlers message translated and make your own decision. In the future, i urge you to do your research, and check with multiple sources before coming to a conclusion.

Thank you, and I wish you well. ~2025-38485-20 (talk) 20:43, 6 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Cannolis (talk) 20:56, 6 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Name of Article

[edit]

The title of the Article is unprofessiontion as well as limiting the subject matter that can be written about. As Seki1949 said earlier, this seems to be a sub article taken out of a larger "Pro-Hitler sentimate" page. I propose The article be renamed to "Pro Hitler speak" that would allow greater information to be conveyed. ~2026-20129-81 (talk) 04:26, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Antisemitic terminology

[edit]

@Buidhe Thank you for creating this article. I've been seeing variations of "Austrian painter" / "Austrian painter was right" going around. Maybe that could be mentioned in the article? I do see it mentioned here. There are so exhaustingly many antisemitic terms I almost wish Wikipedia could have a glossary. Some terms are included under List of ethnic slurs, List of religious slurs, Antisemitic trope, Stereotypes of Jews, etc. There's no page or redirect for Antisemitic slur or Antisemitic slurs. I've been seeing other euphemistic terms going around lately like "tiny hats" or "little mustache", but I'm not sure if there are sources for some of these terms or where we could include the info on Wiki. There is a category for Category:Antisemitic slurs. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 11:21, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not all of these obfuscations of Hitler's name are used in service of antisemitism. A lot of it is people who are just trying to avoid the internet censorship that comes from mentioning Hitler at all. This is Algospeak and, while it is pathetic, we can't blame people for finding whatever solutions they can to censorship. For example, there are moderately serious YouTube videos, which are in no way pro-Hitler, which refer to Hitler as "moustache man" throughout just so that YouTube won't hide them from viewers or give neo-Nazis an excuse to report the video spuriously. What makes this terminology both antisemitic and on-topic for this article is when they add "was right". If somebody is saying "[obfuscation of Hitler's name] was right", and Reliable Sources have noted it, then I think that's perfectly reasonable to include here. It's the same topic just hiding under a different name.
I'm not sure about the list articles. The problem with antisemitism is that it is both ethnically and religiously based and our coverage of the antisemitic slurs is spread over both list articles with a lot of overlap. I don't think a third, even more duplicative, list article would help. Making redirects seems like a good idea but I'm not sure which of the two existing list articles would be the best target. --DanielRigal (talk) 11:54, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@DanielRigal Right. That is a nuance. The uses I have seen have been overhwelmingly antisemitic. I think "tiny hat people" is more clearly antisemitic than the euphemisms for Hitler. And obviously, "painter was right", which is mentioned in that doc I shared. Thanks for your input. Perhaps some of these euphemistic terms can be added to Algospeak. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 14:15, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see "Austrian painter" and "mustache man" are already there. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 14:17, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure "Austrian painter" is an antisemitic slur per se—I thought that would mean derogatory ways of referring to Jewish people, but Austrian painter doesn't refer to Jewish people and isn't necessarily antisemitic per DR's comment above. (t · c) buIdhe 13:17, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Buidhe I understand, but something like "The Austrian painter was right" is identical to "Hitler was right" though. It's mentioned in the JCPA doc I shared. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 14:09, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
yes, that's worth a mention if adequately sourced (t · c) buIdhe 18:34, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
