@EarthDude: A move such as this one is not likely to be contentious - it is acceptable to make the move boldly, and discuss afterward. I appreciate your effort to follow the proper process, but sometimes that leads to needless bureaucracy. Vanamonde93 (talk) 16:34, 22 August 2025 (UTC)

Hmm. When I am trying to move the page, it says that it can't be done because an article titled Hindustan Insecticides Limited already exists, even though I am choosing WP:SWAP as a reason. Could you help me with this? EarthDude (wanna talk?) 18:28, 22 August 2025 (UTC)

You're not able to make the move because there's a non-redirect history at the target, created when you performed a copy-paste move in December 2024. The normal way to handle this would be to file a request at RM/TR, but as an admin I can make the move myself, and I will do so. Under some circumstances a histmerge may be warranted, but since the entire history is that of the reverted cut-and-paste move (I assume you are now aware you shouldn't do that) I think we can skip that step. Yes. I had made the manual move back then, when I was still a relatively new editor and though that the official name overrode the common name. I had recently stumbled upon this article and, with what I knew now, I opened this discussion, because I continued facing that error with moving. I also cleaned up and moved back all of my other previous moves, which violated WP:COMMONNAME. Also, thanks for moving the page for me!
