• Reliable and copy-vio free - Mostly looks well cited. However, the lead says " She believes that ending child marriage to 20% could deliver Malawi a benefit of $500m over fifteen years." and I'm not sure what "ending to 20%" means. Ending 20 percent of child marriage? reducing to 20 percent of the current rates? The birthdate is also not cited. Normally leads aren't cited, but it's not cited in the rest of the article either.

• Copyright No concerns about copyright violations - Earwig is just bringing up job titles and such.
• Presentable - Looks good. I'd suggest a better picture but it's fine if there's nothing else available, and it's not an image hook anyway
• Verified - Yes - though the article says "Within 15 years the country could be $500m pounds better off" - Is it dollars or pounds? cited article says dollars.
• Under 200 characters - It's around 110
• Interesting - I think so
• Image - Public domain, not running as image hook anyway

Thanks for picking up those points. They are all fixed I think. The image is the best available. I'll ping you again if we find a better one. The hook is not something she believes especially: she wrote about a World Bank report which says: "Ending child marriage could generate US$ 0.5 billion in annual benefits within 15 years (in purchasing power parity, PPP)". There must be better to be said about her than just her quoting a figure from a report she read. Fram (talk) 10:43, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

You're right, maybe I didn't read it closely enough. It's kind of ambiguous. Might be hard to quote her views from that article as there's another author. Maybe use something from the voice of america interview? EmergentAnarchy (talk) 16:23, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

We could do that but it is not just "something she read". That's an odd interpretation of something she wrote in a persuasive piece, supported by a report she cited. She put her name to "Conversely, ending child marriage in Malawi could generate the equivalent of $500 million within 15 years" ... many readers would interpret that as something she believed in. It's very strange to highlight (in the lead of the article and as a DYK) a claim someone else wrote and she (or her coauthor) repeated, as one of the most remarkable or interesting things about her. It's unclear why this one line, out of all her writings, interviews, appearances, is given so much weight. Has this specific claim received any attention? Fram (talk) 09:59, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
