Why are given names used throughout article instead of family surnames?

Is there a particular reason why Kawase is referred to by his second given name of "Hasui" throughout the article, instead of by his family surname of "Kawase" as is common (same for other names in the article)? Other Wikipedia articles use the surname, for example Winston Churchill is "Churchill" throughout his biography article and Isoroku Yamamoto is "Yamamoto" throughout his, why is the Kawase article treated differently? Since there has been no response to my question, I edited the article to standardize names to 1) use of only the surname for partial names, and 2) use of Western convention of given name followed by surname for full names. Sccgeography (talk) 17:13, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
