Peace Now
[edit]Shuki, the material from Peace Now was already explicitly attributed to Peace Now, so could you explain why you made it so that they claim what they reported? Also, please review this before making these claims that Peace Now is not a reliable source, especially for attributed statements. nableezy - 23:25, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
"Binyamin Region of Israel"
[edit]Uhh, what? This place is now located in a region of Israel? Since when? nableezy - 06:00, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have corrected the error. nableezy - 13:48, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
- While arguably not a region of Israel, the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council is a unarguably one of the 53 regional councils of the State of Israel. I've edited the article to clarify that this is so. If an editor wishes to change "Israel" to "State of Israel" to stress that the regional council is a construct of the state, as opposed to an objective geographical designation, that's fine too.—Biosketch (talk) 15:21, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
- An issue I see with edits like this is that they are about Israel when the location is actually in the Palestinian territories. It's arguably misleading and superfluous. Or possibly it's informative. I think all of these articles should actually say West Bank, Palestinian territories, to make it clear that these locations are not in Israel at the start of the article, in the infobox or both. Alternatively, something like "under the jurisdiction of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council of Israel in the Palestinian territories" would also work but seems silly. Either way, I see these 'of Israel' kind of edits as potentially problematic and destabilizing because they could apply to every settlement article in which case a centralized discussion may be better. Remove unsubstantiated claim of Israel to US regular commute

Remove the sentence: "Many residents commute to jobs in the United States or work for American companies.[12]" Since the linked article -- which is dead and needs relinking to [1] -- does not state this anywhere.
From a common-sense perspective, it also does not seem plausible that people in a non-metropolitan area frequently commute from Israel to the United States. Since this is a fantastic claim, it must be cited. As stated before, the supposed citation falls short of proving or even insinuating this claim.
Done The Haaretz article, confusingly, is actually being sourced to justify "Most are members of the religious Zionist community" - the disputed claim was added without a source in this edit. Assuming good faith, it seems that editor misinterpreted the article's description of "Americans" (culturally) as a literal description of where they live and work. casualdejekyll 19:05, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
It was all sourced but the citations were misplaced. The first linked article says "Many residents commute to jobs in the U.S. or telecommute for American companies or institutions, thus continuing to earn American salaries that help families support bigger homes."
It also says "It's a quiet, tight-knit modern Orthodox community affiliated with B'nei Akiva, the religious Zionist youth movement"
, explaining the sentence about religious Zionism, which I rewrote. Zerotalk 02:47, 27 December 2025 (UTC)
