[edit]The customer service not good. Front desk people can be rude, and management doesn't care.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.192.36.98 (talk) 06:26, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
I have tried to remove the 'advertisement-ness' to the Cloud Nine section, but I wonder if it should be done away with altogether. Discussion and/or suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated. ~ Porphyric Hemophiliac § 20:50, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
It doesn't sound like an advertisement at all, it just sounds informative. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.251.125.85 (talk) 17:05, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
I think it sounds a lot like an advertisement, and when I come looking to read about the Hampton Inn, I don't need to read a whole section about their beds. 76.114.193.65 (talk) 03:39, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
To be quite honest, I slept in one of these beds this past week, and am trying to locate the maker of the mattresses to purchase one. I hate hotels, but this one was definitely one I'd go back to. And no, I don't work for them, I'm a marine elctronics dude. I fix ships. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.196.111.57 (talk) 12:38, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
Hampton by Hilton name=
[edit]I noticed the article was confusing and not current so I have been trying to add citatiosn and help it but I think I just found press that shows the brand was renamed to "Hampton by Hilton." It looks like it used to only go by that name abroad but the company is rebranding the whole chain now. So I'm adding in more "Hampton by Hilton" references to clear that up
Looks like the press supports that the name has changed, I can move the page and edit the intro.IdlePlayground (talk) 22:33, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Request: Update History
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
Hi editors, on behalf of Hilton via Coyne through my work at Beutler Ink, I have a request to update this article's History section for editors to review. In the collapse box below is my proposed draft with updates in green, followed by a bulleted list that explains the changes.

This proposal seeks the following:
Because these edits update existing content, it's probably best to move things around for the sake of chronology, but I left them in their current place so it's easier to see which content is being replaced. If editors prefer to see it listed chronologically, I can do that, too. |
Thank you, Danilo Two (talk) 17:44, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- You do realize that you've included Linkedin and YouTube as references. It matters not if those are carryovers from the current article, I won't sustain their use in any revised/replaced/untouched text. They ought to be replaced. Regards, Spintendo 06:22, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Spintendo, I'll look for replacement sources. Back soon! Danilo Two (talk) 16:04, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

I have revised this request based on feedback from @Spintendo: my previous request included existing article content that was poorly sourced; such content is now removed.

Hampton by Hilton → Hampton Inn – The former name "Hampton Inn" still seems to be in wide use. See this, this, this, etc. Most directories and Google Maps still list the locations as "Hampton Inn", suggesting this is still the WP:COMMONNAME. Compare how the page for Howard Johnson's still uses the apostrophe-S despite the company officially dropping it in the 80s, as many sources still call that chain "Howard Johnson's". - Support rename - this is the WP:COMMONNAME in my experience and searching, unless someone can positively prove otherwise. Yojo98 (talk) 19:44, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
- Support per nom. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:47, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
- Support: WP:COMMONNAME. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:43, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- Note: Hi editors, on behalf of Hilton via Coyne through my work at Beutler Ink, I wanted to note that it looks like the article was moved from Hampton Inn to Hampton by Hilton in 2015 following discussion by two editors. While there are indeed sources that still use the name Hampton Inn, there are also top-tier publications that use the newer name, Hampton by Hilton. These include, but are not limited to:
- BBC
- CBS News
- CNN
- The New York Times (1)
- The New York Times (2)
- The Wall Street Journal (note: “Hampton by Hilton” is used in the opening paragraphs, but “Hampton Inn” is used in the photo caption and by both the interviewer and interviewee.)
- The Washington Post
- Here's another idea: Is it possible to name the article something along the lines of "Hampton (brand)", with an opening sentence of "Hampton by Hilton, formerly known as Hampton Inn, is an American chain of hotels trademarked by Hilton Worldwide ..."? It could be worth considering. Danilo Two (talk) 16:21, 15 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Necrothesp: @BarrelProof: @Yojo98: your thoughts on Danilo Two's counter-argument? I think they do bring up a good point but this could still break either way. Ten Pound Hammer (they/them) • (What did I screw up now?) 03:56, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- If I don't bias my search by looking specifically for one version of the name or the other, "Hampton Inn" is very dominant in the results. Even the hotel's own website at hilton.com almost always identifies places as "Hampton Inn" or "Hampton Inn and Suites" (or "Hampton Inn & Suites"). Even pictures of the hotels show these names primarily on the signs. I think it's clear that Danilo is cherry-picking. "Hampton (brand)" is awkward and doesn't make it evident that it's about a hotel brand. See WP:NATURAL. "Hampton Inn" is not just a former name – it's being used now – even by Hilton. On the subset of signage that uses "Hampton by Hilton", the "by Hilton" is tiny and on a different line of text – often so small it is unreadable. Some signs have "Hampton" very large, then a second line with a slightly smaller "Inn & Suites" and then a third line with a really tiny "by Hilton". — BarrelProof (talk) 04:11, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- I would also like to point out that most of the Wyndham brands are "officially" named "X by Wyndham" (e.g. Super 8 by Wyndham, AmericInn by Wyndham, etc.), but their articles are all at their Wyndham-less names. So there is precedent for not using the "by" part. Ten Pound Hammer (they/them) • (What did I screw up now?) 05:44, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- My comment stands. -- Necrothesp (talk) 07:54, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- My comment also stands. I agree with BarrelProof's reasoning here. Yojo98 (talk) 13:07, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
