Discrepancy over military service

There is a discrepancy about how his military service progressed. His progression in commissioned ranks in the RAF, ending in squadron leader in 1945, supported by citations to the London Gazette. However, the news story on his reaching his century states he was "discharged as sergeant in 1946" - at a non commissioned rank. I suspect an error in the newspaper's account and would be inclined to suppress it, perhaps with an explanatory footnote if it must be mentioned.Cloptonson (talk) 07:15, 27 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
