This information needs to be edited to show that Garfield was previously named Junction City. I participate in By the People from the Library of Congress and just transcribed a letter saying the people of Junction City voted to rename the town from Junction City to Garfield in honor of Rep. James A. Garfield being nominated to run for the Presidency. The letter's number is 446 on the BtP site: https://crowd.loc.gov/campaigns/garfield-correspondence/jan-june-1880/mss219560118/mss219560118-446/ The letter is dated June 18, 1880. ~2026-12636-63 (talk) 00:21, 26 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
