Meal Money
[edit]Don't all professional baseball players receive meal money in addition to their salaries? I'm sure that it's just at the independent league level like the Frontier League it is just that it is a larger proportion of the compensation. 72.105.0.89 (talk) 03:22, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
level of play
[edit]Does someone know what level is the Frontier League? Like AAA? AA? 192.139.231.252 (talk) 14:06, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- None. The rankings of Single-A, Double-A, Triple-A apply to teams and leagues in Minor League Baseball, not to independent baseball leagues like the Frontier League. You can find various opinions of what they're comparable to, but there is no official answer. -- Pemilligan (talk) 04:46, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
New England?
[edit]Is there a supporting reference for a New England team? -- Pemilligan (talk) 00:47, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- Updated with the league's press release. -- Pemilligan (talk) 01:04, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
Mississippi location changes
[edit]Hey, this is probably really petty but I don't know anywhere to put this so its going here. Someone keps changing the location of the Mud Monsters to Jackson, Mississippi, when they play in Pearl. You could say its a suburb, but its 13 miles away and 25 mins away from Jackson, and with that logic you would say all the Chicago area teams play in Chicago, Wildthings in Pittsburgh, Crushers in Cleveland, and Florence in Cincinnati. If there is an admin or anyone seeing this can you please do something to prevent this? Thanks! JakeLaroi (talk) 16:00, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kaepertank. Their latest IP has been blocked for a month, but this individual has been going on like this for four years now, so who knows. -- Pemilligan (talk) 18:25, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
Requested move 1 October 2026
[edit]
It has been proposed in this section that Frontier League be renamed and moved to National Association of Professional Baseball. A bot will list this discussion on the requested moves current discussions subpage within an hour of this tag being placed. The discussion may be closed 7 days after being opened, if consensus has been reached (see the closing instructions). Please base arguments on article title policy, and keep discussion succinct and civil. Please use {{subst:requested move}}. Do not use {{requested move/dated}} directly. |
Frontier League → National Association of Professional Baseball – The league publicly launched its new identity as the National Association of Professional Baseball (NAPB) on October 1, 2026, updating its official social media accounts and publishing new branding under the name.
The league originally [the rebranding in April 2026]. Its [Facebook account] now uses the National Association of Professional Baseball name, and independent reporting, including the [Times-Review], has begun referring to the organization as the NAPB.
A previous move was reversed on September 27 because the announcement specified that the league would compete under its new identity beginning with the 2027 season. However, the league has now publicly introduced its new branding ahead of that season.
The proposed move would reflect the organization's new identity while preserving its history, records and previous identity as the Frontier League. The former title should remain as a redirect. Slothwahoo (talk) 14:57, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Support. I don't even know why this is controversial; the name is official, was announced a season in advance (so it's already the WP:COMMONNAME), and the only reason I believe people wouldn't want it moved is over semantics. Tom Danson (talk) 21:52, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Rename current media are already using the name; , and . Catfurball (talk) 21:58, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Procedural comment. This move was already objected to when the original move was reverted here. Therefore, the request is not uncontroversial and a move discussion is needed in order to establish the consensus title for the page (WP:RMUM). While a move request is open, the move should not be performed, particularly by the editor who initiated the move request. An uninvolved closer will assess the consensus regarding the page title when the discussion period (usually one week) has elapsed. After a move performed during the open request was reverted with this explained in the edit summary, the page was moved by the same editor again, so I have again reverted the move and added move protection to the page. Further, it is not appropriate to remove entirely the talk section making the move request (including the comments of other editors), under WP:TPG. This is not an endorsement of the current title and I have no opinion on the move request. Best, Dekimasuよ! 03:13, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Of course, its previous reversion was because the name change was not yet official, but now it is. So therefore it is uncontroversial; please do not judge it without knowing all the facts. Tom Danson (talk) 19:52, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Support. I reverted the move on September 27 - at that time, the league was still referring to itself as Frontier League. That has now changed. 162 etc. (talk) 03:20, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- I'm a bit concerned that the proposed title is similar to the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players and may lead to some confusion. Do we need an additional dab? Spanneraol (talk) 12:56, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- I've restored the hatnote to National Association, which had been at the top here until very recently. 162 etc. (talk) 15:45, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Support. The move is no longer controversial, as the original objector has changed their opinion. -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:48, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Why was the name reverted this time? The logo and intro paragraph both refer to the league as the NAPB now. StudiedPort5 (talk) 18:29, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Because a mod who doesn't follow this page insisted on starting up this process because it was "not uncontroversial," even though all facts point to it being so now. At what point do we advocate for WP:SNOWCLOSE? Tom Danson (talk) 19:53, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
