The article states:

Cardozo's Portuguese ancestors had become established in the London tobacco trade in the late 17th century. A century or so later his forebears, (including his father), were merchants for the East India Company in Madras.

If his father was alive in the late 18th Century it is difficult to see how he could have fathered someone born in 1916. Roundtheworld (talk) 08:31, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
