Family
[edit]The name Bechhofer relates to Bechhofen in Bavaria, where a Jewish family was settled for a long time.
In his interview Frank Bechhofer mentions the barrister C. E. Bechhofer Roberts as a cousin; interesting since Bechhofer Roberts said little about his background. There was a brother who went to America. He mentions also a statistician, who will be Robert Eric Bechhofer of Cornell.
Some newspaper research shows the Bechhofer family home in Nottingham was 2 Alverstone Road, Mapperley Park. His mother Elisabeth died in 1960, his father Ernest (Ernst?) in 1969, a company director leaving £50K.
In 1949 Mr. E. Bechhofer attended the funeral of Percy Phillip Payne, printed tape manufacturer of Haydn Road, Nottingham. This is quite likely to be the business contact who helped Ernest Bechhofer ten years earlier. Charles Matthews (talk) 06:20, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
