Left Class Revolution

I have re-created the sub-sections of the two member parties, following the advices of User:OwenX and User:UndercoverClassicist. This way redirects point correctly to the sub-section named "Left Class Revolution". Please see Talk:Revolutionary Communist Party (Italy)#Deletion review?. Additionally, I would like to point out that the sub-section has new sources, including news articles, the archive of the Ministry of Culture and the library of the Regional Council of Tuscany. -- Checco (talk) 09:21, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

Their advice however specifically mentioned essentially requiring that the information be verifiable, and not introduce WP:UNDUE weight to the host article of which neither appears to have been followed. The majority of the sources still appeared to be WP:ABOUTSELF, which is a problem, overweighted the article towards the descriptions of the parties, and also had the appearance of creating articles by the backdoor where the descriptions of them far exceeded any relevance to this joint ticket.

If you're suggesting the coalition ended in 2018, why for instance did the summaries go on to discuss events well into the 2020s? Rambling Rambler (talk) 15:20, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

Take away that part, if you want. Most of the sub-section was well sourced. Of course, additional sources can be added: on the web there are plenty of sources, especially on the phase during which the organisation was named "Left Class Revolution", notably including newspapers like La Repubblica and Il Giornale, not to mention several sources that can be found in it:Partito Comunista Rivoluzionario–please note that it.Wikipedia has much more rigid standards for political parties and factions. Per User:OwenX "the notability requirements for a section on an existing page are much more lax, essentially requiring that the information be verifiable" and all the infos I added in the sub-section were quite verifiable. Indeed, there is no doubt that this organisation has been active for a long time and played a relevant role within the Communist Refoundation Party. --Checco (talk) 19:40, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

Exactly, if the list was disbanded in 2018, what does the Revolutionary Communist Party, founded in 2024, have to do with it? I was neutral about the page's deletion, but the AfD's outcome wasn't a redirect, much less a merger, so I don't understand why the Revolutionary Communist Party (Italy) would redirect to the page of this list, which was disbanded in 2018. A brief introduction of the two parties adhering to the list is one thing; it's another matter entirely to take up a large portion of the page describing the history of the less important of the two parties.--Scia Della Cometa (talk) 21:12, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

I'll tag @OwenX to provide their view themselves, but I'm rather certain that's a case of them giving an inch and you taking the proverbial mile.

"More lax" doesn't mean "policies don't apply". An article is still bound to core policies and just having a subsection that stretches out long past when you claim the group was disbanded to instead sort of turn the article about the joint slate into being a biography of both political parties outside of the joint slate isn't appropriate. Can we have a shorter sub-section, then? @User:Rambling Rambler @User:OwenX @User:UndercoverClassicist? Something like:

Left Class Revolution (LCR) was launched in 2014, within the PRC, as the re-boot of faction named HammerSickle (FM). The latter had been formed in 1986 in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna by a group of Trotskyists within the local youth section of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) who edited a journal under the same name. In 1991 the group joined the PRC and was organised as a faction, representing 1.7% of the party in the 2005 PRC congress, 24.5% of the party's youth in 2010 and, along with Countercurrent, 13.4% in 2011. In 2016 LCR left the PRC and became an independent party. During a congress in April 2024, the LCR would decide to transform into the Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR), which would be formally established in November 2024. Italian section of the Revolutionary Communist International.

We can also remove the sentences after "During a congress in April 2024" or shorten it even more if that is better for you. It would still need to be shorter than that. Lose the ancient history about its various previous incarnations, and remove as many of the self-published sources as you can. So it would be about the version as it was founded in 2014 (as that's the one that joined the slate) and then some background regarding its decision to participate in the slate.
