First Sentence of Company Description
[edit source]I'm sorry if this is wrong, but the first sentence appears to have been taken directly from the Energy Vault website. Since it appears very enthusiastic (especially the whole part about "transforming") and not exactly neutral, should it be rewritten? Scfreiburg09 (talk) 18:43, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, it seems to have been fixed while I was still busy writing this. My bad. Scfreiburg09 (talk) 18:55, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
Advertisement-style first paragraph
[edit source]It looks like the first paragraph was already reverted once and then replaced again.

Energy Vault is a Swiss-based, global energy storage company specializing in gravity and kinetic energy based, long-duration energy storage products. Energy Vault’s primary product is a gravity battery using a multi-headed crane to store energy by stacking heavy blocks made of composite material into a tower, capturing potential energy in the elevation gain of the blocks. When demand for electricity is high, the crane lowers these blocks to the ground, with the motors functioning as generators and delivering electricity to the grid. - It looks like User:Annapiccioni (director of marketing for Energy Vault) is actively using this article for advertising to gain funding. I've put in an article protection request to try and curb this. Snickerdoooodle (talk) 20:47, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not a tool to advertise your company.
[edit source]User:Annapiccioni, I would like to warn you against using Wikipedia edits to advertise for Energy Vault. This is a conflict of interest and is a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. Please tone down the advertising-speak in your edits. Wiki articles are meant to be informational only, not an ad-read. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snickerdoooodle (talk • contribs) 20:59, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
This company has controversy
[edit source]On top of the founder of the company trying to use Wikipedia as an advertising ground for their project, it's worth noting that this company has a lot of controversy around it. I don't know if there's enough to add a section about it, but I think it's worth considering.

Proposed new lead[edit source]Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. is a global energy infrastructure company headquartered in Westlake Village, California. It develops grid-scale energy storage and generation systems for utilities, independent power producers, and large energy users. The company was founded in Switzerland in 2017 and has traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker NRGV since February 2022. Since 2024 it has expanded beyond engineering and construction into owning and operating storage assets as an independent power producer, and in 2026 it began offering power infrastructure for data centers. Proposed History section additions[edit source]Energy Vault was founded in 2017 by Robert Piconi, Bill Gross, and Andrea Pedretti through the Idealab startup studio in Lugano, Switzerland. In 2019 it received an investment from Cemex and raised $110 million in Series B funding led by the SoftBank Vision Fund, then the largest equity investment in a grid-scale storage hardware company. The company raised Series C funding in 2021 with participation from Saudi Aramco's venture arm and other investors. In February 2022, Energy Vault became publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange through a business combination with Novus Capital Corporation II, a special-purpose acquisition company, raising about $235 million in gross proceeds. The company's original product was a gravity-based system that stores energy by raising and lowering heavy composite blocks, later developed into a building-style design marketed as EVx. A 25 MW/100 MWh gravity system was commissioned in Rudong, China in 2023 under a licensing arrangement with Atlas Renewable and China Tianying. As the company scaled, most of its revenue came from conventional lithium-ion battery storage rather than gravity systems, a shift noted by trade press covering the sector. In 2024, Energy Vault commissioned the Calistoga Resiliency Center in California, a microgrid combining battery storage and green hydrogen fuel cells to provide backup power to a wildfire-prone community served by Pacific Gas and Electric.[1] In April 2025, it signed a ten-year licensing and royalty agreement with India's SPML Infra covering more than 30 GWh of battery storage manufacturing and deployment.[2] Proposed Technology and products section[edit source]Energy Vault's product lines include gravity-based storage (EVx), battery energy storage systems (B-VAULT), green hydrogen storage (H-Vault), and an energy management software platform (VaultOS) that operates across storage and generation assets. In 2026 the company announced a strategic partnership agreement to integrate a sodium-ion battery architecture developed by Peak Energy, intended for data center and utility energy market applications.[3] Proposed Independent power producer strategy section (new)[edit source]Beginning in 2024, Energy Vault moved from solely an engineering, procurement, and construction model toward also building, owning, and operating storage assets and selling power under long-term contracts, a model it describes as an independent power producer strategy. In 2025 it established Asset Vault, a consolidated subsidiary to hold its owned-and-operated projects, supported by a $300 million preferred equity investment from Orion Infrastructure Capital that closed in October 2025.[4] Early Asset Vault projects include the Cross Trails battery system (57 MW/114 MWh) in Snyder, Texas and the Calistoga Resiliency Center in California, both operational, and the Stoney Creek battery project (125 MW/1 GWh) in New South Wales, Australia. In 2026 the company entered the Japanese market through the acquisition of an 850 MW battery storage development portfolio from BayWa r.e.[5] The company appointed Cory Magnuson, previously CFO of Spearmint Energy, as President of Asset Vault in 2026, and reported approximately 1.1 GW of assets under management in the first quarter of 2026.[6] Proposed Data center and AI infrastructure section (new)[edit source]In 2026, Energy Vault began offering power infrastructure for data centers under the names "Powered Land" and "Powered Shell," providing prepared sites and modular electrical and mechanical systems for high-density computing. The company reported securing rights to roughly 500 acres of land with power access in the U.S. Southwest.[7] In February 2026 it announced a partnership with AI infrastructure developer Crusoe to deploy modular data center systems at its facility in Snyder, Texas,[8] and in May 2026 a partnership with Peak Energy on sodium-ion storage for data centers.[9] Sources[edit source]Independent:
