Origin of the common names "... emo skink"

To say that they are commonly called "emoias" doesn't tell us where that is so, nor the origin of the word "emo" that appears in dozens of the English common names tabulated in the article. What language does "emo" come from? At a guess, it's likely to be either Austronesian or Papuan ... yoyo (talk) 20:55, 29 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Distribution map
