Edit request: founder's death (May 2026)
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. Set |answered=no to reactivate the request if necessary. |
Disclosure: I am employed by Everysport Group AB, which owns Elite Prospects. I have a paid disclosure on my user page and I am not editing the article directly.
The article does not currently mention that founder Johan Nilsson died in May 2026. Two related changes below; please treat them as one unit, since 1b relies on a citation defined in 1a.
1a. Add as a new final paragraph of the History section, after the sentence about the offices in Stockholm, Växjö and Tampa:
Nilsson died in May 2026 at the age of 45, after nine years with colon cancer. His death was announced by Elite Prospects on 14 May 2026.
1b. In the last sentence of the lead, add life dates so the lead reflects the body per MOS:LEAD. Change:
The site was founded in 1999 by Johan Nilsson, then a high school student in Kalmar, Sweden.
to:
The site was founded in 1999 by Johan Nilsson (1981–2026), then a high school student in Kalmar, Sweden.
The existing citations on that sentence can stay; the dates are supported by the sources added in 1a, which quote the company statement giving a birth date of 9 April 1981.
Notes for the reviewing editor:
- Sources report the date the death was announced rather than a date of death, and the two that give a specific date disagree, hence "in May 2026" rather than a precise date.
- Sources are Swedish per WP:NONENG. The English-language coverage I could find is limited to aggregators, syndicated aggregator copy and user-generated forum posts, so I judged these stronger.
- Kept to two sentences, as fuller biographical detail seems better suited to a biography than to an article about the company. Happy to be overruled.
- No changes proposed to the infobox, since Infobox website has no field for this.

- Not changed. Nilsson's personal life are irrelevant to this article. This is an article about a business, not a biography. Flibirigit (talk) 15:50, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
Edit request: figures, founding background, copyedit
[edit]| The user below has a request that an edit be made to Elite Prospects. That user has an actual or apparent conflict of interest. The requested edits backlog is very high. Please be extremely patient. There are currently 894 requests waiting for review. Please read the instructions for the parameters used by this template for accepting and declining them, and review the request below and make the edit if it is well sourced, neutral, and follows other Wikipedia guidelines and policies. Remember to set the |answered= parameter to "yes" when the request has been accepted, rejected or on hold awaiting user input. |
Same disclosure as in the section above. Three unrelated proposals.
1. Replace outdated figures
The article cites 2024 figures for subscriptions. Newer independent coverage exists. Change:
EP Premium is the site's subscription tier introduced in 2018. 2024, Elite Prospects has 20,000 active subscriptions, more than half of which are players.
to:
EP Premium is the site's subscription tier introduced in 2018. 2025, Affärsvärlden reported roughly 30,000 paying subscribers and over six million unique visitors per month. Forbes reported in 2024 that more than half of subscribers were active players.
Notes: replaces one figure with a newer independent one rather than stacking both, and drops the citation to the subject's own pricing page. The Forbes sentence is kept because the subscriber breakdown is not in the newer source. Affärsvärlden is an independent Swedish business publication; the article is paywalled.
2. Founding background
Add to the first paragraph of History, after the sentence about early content:
Nilsson has said the idea came from North American online hockey forums, where users sought information about Swedish draft prospects that was not available in English.
Note: reuses a citation already in the article, but it is an interview published by the subject and therefore primary. No objection if a reviewer prefers to leave it out.
3. Copyedit, "EP-scouting" section
The first sentence is a fragment with no predicate, and the second places a translation from Swedish inside English quotation marks. Change:
The Swedish term EP-scouting, used pejoratively to describe sports directors perceived to rely solely on Elite Prospects' statistics rather than in-person scouting when evaluating signings. In an interview with the Swedish Hockey League, Nilsson noted that "EP-scouting" was likely uncommon at the SHL level but more frequent at lower divisions.
to:

I would also suggest removing the quotation marks from the section heading per MOS:HEADINGS. Jackesilfver (talk) 08:29, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
