[edit]"An editor keeps reverting the text to state that these species are 'unrelated.' This is biologically inaccurate for an encyclopedia. These lineages are vertebrates/passerines that share a common evolutionary ancestor; they are distantly related or distinct, not unrelated. Per core policy WP:ACCURACY, Wikipedia must prioritize strict scientific consensus over loose, casual shorthand. Changing the word to 'distinct' preserves sentence flow while keeping the text factually correct. Please discuss here instead of edit-warring." [1, 2] ~2026-38730-08 (talk) 14:44, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- It is easier and more expedient to say that they are unrelated than to make mention that they are "distantly related," which, in turn, is an unhelpful, if not outright meaningless specificity. Might as well mention that they're "distantly related to humans and mushrooms, too, then. Mr Fink (talk) 16:23, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
