New Information
[edit]The ESBWR has recently been approved by the US NRC http://www.world-nuclear-news.org/NN-Design-approval-for-the-ESBWR-1709201401.html 75.164.168.62 (talk) 04:38, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
Minor history of the acryonym ESBWR
[edit]Originally (internal to GE Nuclear) the words associated with ESBWR were "Essentially Safe" not "Economic Simplified." Those words, read with the original intent, make more sense than the later wording. After months of use, a concern was raised that critics would ask something like, "Does that mean it is not REALLY safe?" Thus, the awkward revised wording. Source -- being in the room when the decision to change the words was made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RoseHawk (talk • contribs) 14:08, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
